One of the county's rising stars is looking good for a place in this year's Miss England contest.
Chanelle Paul has already polled half of the votes needed to be offered a place in this year's beauty and personality competition.

However she still needs 100 more text votes by Wednesday if she is to take part in the Miss Northampton heat of the competition.

It could be the Wellingborough woman's first steps to her dream of being crowned the country's most beautiful – and having a shot at the prestigious Miss World title.

The 19-year-old, from Torrington Road, said: "For me it has been an amazing achievement.

"I'm proud to be representing Wellingborough and I'm loving everything about it."

Chanelle said people should vote for her because she "loves to entertain".

She added: "The judges want someone with a personality. You need to be fine talking to people and you need to be able to speak well."

Chanelle said her personality was outgoing but said she could be serious at times too.

She said: "I listen to people. I'm caring and I want to know what's going on with people."

Chanelle started her career in the entertainment industry at a young age, tap dancing round the kitchen when she was a child and learning ballet and jive.

The deadline for votes is 14 May at 9am. To vote, text "Chanelle Paul" to 84205, or call 09016 561524 and follow the instructions. More information is available on www.missengland.info.
