More than 700 residents have responded to a survey to find out what they would like done with the site of an old swimming pool.
About 4,000 questionnaires were sent out and two drop-in meetings were held as part of a consultation to see what people living near the site wanted for the land formerly occupied by Wellingborough Swimming Pool in Croyland Road.
About 750 of the questionnaires were returned.
The results have not yet been released, but early indications show mixed opinions to the council's suggestion for a medical centre, a pub, parkland or flats for the elderly.
Elaine Dabbs, 55, of Priory Road, said: "My husband wants it put back to parkland. I think the medical centre is a good idea, though.
"We definitely don't want a pub because the one up the road just closed down so I don't see the point."
Louise Coles, 42, of Priory Road, said: "I don't think they would turn it back to park. Whatever they put there, as long as it doesn't back right on to my fence, I don't mind."
Wellingborough Council property manager Richard Vaughan said: "We have had more than 20 per cent response to our written notification, so this is good even if people are saying they don't want anything built.
"We want to know what they don't want as well as what they want."
However, many people living in the immediate vicinity of the site say they did not receive the questionnaires or know anything about the meetings.
Howard Rainbow, 66, of Croyland Road, said: "I feel a bit miffed if they didn't bother to send it to us, because we are just up the road from the site."
Vivien Mallard, 30, also of Croyland Road, said: "I have heard nothing from the council, but I want to know what is going on because I'm concerned about what is going to be built there."
Many other residents on Croyland Road, Mannock Road, and Doddington Road said they did not receive the forms.
Croyland councillor Lesley Callnon said: "I am sure those roads were mapped for delivery, as it was our intention to do everyone in the area. I don't know why this happened."
