A brick has been thown from a bridge on the A45 near Earls Barton for the second time in a week.

The brick hit the windscreen of a car causing it to crack. Luckily the woman driver of the car was not injured in the incident but was left very shaken.

The incident happened at 12.45pm yesterday (Thursday). A group of young people were seen on the bridge at the time of this incident.

Sgt Martin Sutton from the Wellingborough Rural North Safer Community Team which includes Earls Barton, said: "This was a mindless act which could have had more serious consequences.

"Luckily in both of the incidents no one was injured but throwing items from bridges onto unsuspecting motorists can have tragic consequences and is something to be taken seriously.

"I would urge parents to make sure they know what their children are up to and make sure they are aware of the possible consequences of this kind of behaviour."

Patrols will be increased in the area and officers will be delivering leaflets to properties in the area explaining what has happened and the dangers of throwing items from bridges.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have any information regarding it.

Witnesses can contact police on 08453 700 700 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Just heard on the news that some do-gooder is saying that we are criminalising the young for petty offences.

If these 'young kids' kill someone is it ok to crimininalise them then?

Throwing bricks at cars and lorries is attempted murder.

The courts should treat it for what it is and not simply an act of holiganism
