A bumpy ride led to 50 years of marriage

A couple who met while riding on the dodgems at a fair celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Saturday.
Anne and Peter Edwards, of South Field Drive, Barton Seagrave joined relatives at Hobsons Choice in Kettering at the weekend to celebrate 50 years of marriage.
Mrs Edwards said: "We met at a fair in Kettering, off Northampton Road, in 1954.
"We were both on the dodgems and were knocking into each other.
"Our relationship went from there and we married four years later."
The couple tied the knot at the Fuller Baptist Church in Kettering.
Mr Edwards said: "It was a lovely wedding and then we spent a honeymoon away in Torquay."
Mr Edwards spent 42 years working in the banking industry.
He started work as a cashier before eventually becoming the manager of a branch of Lloyds.
He said: "I really enjoyed it, I enjoyed meeting people and working as a banker."
Mrs Edwards worked in the shoe industry for companies including Timpson and was the manageress of A Jones and Sons in Dunstable for a number of years.
She said: "I loved everything about working with shoes."
The couple have two children, Kevin Edwards, 45, and Donna Ladbrook, 38, and seven grandchildren.
Mr Edwards spent two years in the RAF as part of his national service.
The pair, who are now retired, said the secret to a long lasting marriage was a combination of give and take and enjoying spending time together."
