CULT musical duo the OperaBabes start their long-awaited UK tour in style with a concert in the county this week.
Fresh from the release of their acclaimed new album Renaissance and a string of sell-out summer concerts, Rebecca Knight and Karen England, right, visit the Castle, Wellingborough, on Thursday.
The glamorous singers have created a dramatic stage show featuring stunning visuals, dancers, special effects and striking costumes by designer to the stars Elizabeth Emmanuel.
After humble beginnings busking in Covent Garden to support their classical singing lessons, the talented twosome were discovered by a talent scout who was so impressed he invited them to perform at the 2001 FA Cup Final. Their performance of Abide With Me was televised to 500 million people worldwide.
Since their rapid rise to stardom, the OperaBabes have released two albums. Their debut Beyond Imagination shot straight to No 1 in the classical music charts. The follow-up Renaissance – a crossover collection of well-known classical and popular songs –was recently released on the independent label Instant Karma Classics.
The Castle concert starts at 7.30pm and all tickets are £20 on 01933 270007.
