It is all change at Weavers School, Wellingborough.
When the next academic year starts in September the new intake of Year 7 students will be sporting a new uniform.
The former blue colour scheme is being abandoned and replaced with red and gold on the new blazer and tie and optional jumper.
At the same time a new school sport kit will also be introduced.
Assistant headteacher Richard Boddy said: "It all stemmed from our 2008 Ofsted report which included the comment: 'Students are proud of their school and the school is proud of them'.
"It was as a response to this quote that started the ball rolling as the school student council wanted to reflect this pride of the school with a new uniform."
It has taken a full year from concept to delivery. When the students modelled for the picture on this page some of the teachers and many students had yet to see the real thing as opposed to samples, mock-ups and drawings.
Year 8 student Perry Cayford and Year 10 student Nathan King are both members of the school council, the force behind the change.
Perry said: "We organised a fashion show for parents from which the final blazer, colours and badge were chosen. I am looking forward to wearing the uniform myself."
Nathan said: "I think the new uniform looks a lot smarter and when you wear it, it makes you feel proud.
"I have friends in other schools and they are quite jealous of our smart uniform."
Mr Boddy said: "Wearing a school uniform gives students a sense of belonging and is as important today as it has ever been.
"A uniform also prevents competition between students and families as to whose clothes are better or cost more, which can exclude some students from poorer homes.
"Weavers School is the most improving school in the county, and that is official, and the new uniform reflects the success of the Weavers brand.
"The students have driven this event and they are proud of the school and want to look as smart as possible.
"We looked carefully at the costs which is very important in the current economical climate and the full uniform is less than some of our competitors but we don't mind if parents want to source elsewhere as long as they use the tie and badge. The Weavers Wild Cat is an emblem that reflects our pride in all aspects of the school's life and of the community."
Although Year 7 students will adopt the uniform from September it will not become compulsory for other students until September 2010.
