Webster's keen to make up lost time

Adam Webster is looking forward to making up for lost time at Corby Town.

The big striker finally made his Steelmen debut against Boston United last weekend after missing the first six games of the new Blue Square Bet North campaign with ankle ligament damage.

And after lasting just over 50 minutes against the Pilgrims, Webster is now looking forward to a longer stint against Hyde United on Saturday.

"It was nice to get involved with the lads on the pitch and hopefully there is more to come," he said.

"My ankle feels pretty strong now and the last week has been positive.

"I had an injection in it before the Boston game and that is helping improve things.

"Over the course of the next two weeks that, and continuing my physiotherapy at Corby, should mean it's all go from now on."

While he's been on the sidelines, Webster has been forced to watch the likes of Ben Mackey fire the Steelmen to a positive start with four wins in seven games.

And with the likes of Steve Diggin, Nathan Jarman, Michael Frew and

fellow injury victim Simon Brown for competition up front, he knows he needs to find his best form quickly.

But it's a challenge he's looking forward too as well as showing the Steelmen fans what he can do.

"It's been a good start for us, we're up amongst the play-off areas and Boston was the first game where we've failed score," he continued.

"So of course I want to be part of that and get in there and get a few goals and show the fans what I can do.

"I've been away from football for a little while now because I had a few injuries at Hinckley last season.

"I'm just looking forward to getting playing again and enjoying it again.

"I'm certainly very encouraged by how we've started and I thought the draw with Boston was still a good point for us.

"It looks good for the season ahead because we'll certainly create chances in this team and I hope I can be on the end of some of them."

A supporters' coach is running to Hyde for this Saturday's game. To book a seat, call Connor on 07909 113036.
