Wanderers earn vital victory in survival bid

Wanderers B took a giant stride towards safety above bottom-markers Chesterwell B in the Apec Braking Division One table by beating them 8-2.

Following on from last week's heroics, Luke Hughes opened with an 11-8, 11-5, 11-4 win over Richard J Adams but was quickly brought down to earth by Tony Wharton who won at a canter 11-4, 11-1, 11-6.

Craig Dilley also saw off the struggling Adams for the other point of the night with reserve Clare Coles nearly managing to emulate her team-mates before going down in five 9-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-5, 11-6.

In a rare appearance Andy Law comfortably saw off Craig Dilley and Coles but needed the extra ends against Hughes before winning out 7-11, 8-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-8.
