Trophy travels
The road to Wembley will take both Rushden & Diamonds and Corby Town on tough trips up north next month in a bid to keep their FA Carlsberg Trophy dreams alive.
Diamonds face another trek to Workington where Justin Edinburgh's side ran out 3-0 winners in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round at the end of October.
The Steelmen have been drawn away to Blue Square North rivals Stalybridge Celtic in the second round of the Trophy to be played on Saturday, January 9.
Diamonds assistant-manager Michael Stone said: "It was quite amusing at the start of yesterday's training session when the boss (Justin Edinburgh) joked we had got Workington away again.
"Five minutes later he came back and said the same thing so I didn't know whether to believe him or not!
"At least we've been there before so they are familiar surroundings to us.
"We had a great result and performance up there in the FA Cup.
"It will be tough again and there are no teams left in this competition where you would look at a comfortable route.
"I'm sure they will be set out for revenge and they will try to cause an upset.
"We will prepare the same as we always do and look to make progress.
"The FA Trophy is very exciting with the end target of playing at Wembley so we are all looking forward to the next round in January."
Corby have already been to Stalybridge once this year in the league where they came away with a 3-1 success.
And skipper Phil Gulliver, who scored in that game, is confident the Steelmen can do the buisness again.
"We played very well on that day and we know what they're about, which always helps," he said.
"Hopefully we can put in another good away performance and get a good cup run going."
