Transition has been so easy for new boy Luke
Luke Graham has enjoyed an easy transition after re-joining Kettering Town.
The defender returned to the Elgood's Arena earlier in the summer having been part of the York City side that was beaten in last season's play-off final at Wembley Stadium.
But the 24-year-old craved a move to a club closer to his Northampton home and Kettering ended up being his destination despite plenty of
interest elsewhere.
And Kettering-born Graham has certainly enjoyed being back on home turf alongside some old friends.
He said: "It's good to be back and it's nice to be able to get up at
8.30am instead of 6.30am to set off for training!
"I suppose it's a bit like old times because I know a lot of the boys and I know the set-up but I am obviously hopeful that it will be a more successful stay. It's been a very easy transition for me.
"There will be ups and downs in the dressing-room all season but it's been straightforward because I already knew 80 or 90 per cent of the lads who are here."
The pre-season campaign, on the pitch at least, hasn't been great for the Poppies so far.
They suffered four successive defeats before last night's 2-2 draw at Alfreton Town.
The Poppies led twice through Ashley Westwood and Paul Furlong while Serge Makofo also returned as a trialist, setting up the second goal.
But Graham is staying as calm about the lack of positive results as he would be if Kettering had beaten everyone in their path.
"The boys are alright and we have been in good spirits all the way through," he added.
"Pre-season can go either way. If you win a few, you think you are
going to win the league and if you lose a few then people can get edgy.
"The truth is, results don't matter and everyone knows that.
"I don't think you can read anything into pre-season. It's all about fitness and I am sure the fans get bored of hearing that.
"I hate losing and conceding goals so from that point of view it has been disappointing because you want to get into good habits.
"But when you see the turnover in players and trialists it can tend to
upset the rhythm.
"If you look at our first-half performances against the sides who are at a higher level then I don't think it has been too bad."
