Tough decisions will come for Edinburgh

Justin Edinburgh is ready to face more tough decisions over Rushden & Diamonds' line-up with the return of three experienced players this weekend.

Skipper Jamie Stuart and midfielder Paul Terry are both available again

after serving two-match suspensions for successive 1-0 away wins over Histon and Tamworth.

Rob Wolleaston should also be fit following a hamstring injury to rejoin the squad for Saturday's home game against relegation-threatened Gateshead in the Blue Square Premier.

Top scorer Lee Tomlin is among those who will feel the benefit of a free week in the fixture list due to the demise of Chester City who had been due to visit Nene Park last night.

Diamonds boss Edinburgh said: "It was a blessing in disguise to have that game called off.

"The squad had an extra day's rest which will certainly give a bit of

breathing space for Wolleaston, Tomlin and one or two others who were

struggling with injuries.

"We will have Stuart and Terry back so there are going to be tough decisions to make after two excellent away results.

"I've always said I would rather have it that way instead of the team picking itself.

"Whoever is left out will realise it's not about them as individuals. The whole team have taken us this far."

Since the FA Carlsberg Trophy exit at Workington in the first game of 2010, Diamonds have only conceded three goals in the last 10 games and scored 18 – including six at Hayes & Yeading United and four against Barrow.

Edinburgh reflected: "I felt that was always going to be the case where we would rely more on the defence.

"We have probably leaked goals when we shouldn't have done but we were

free-scoring at the time.

"It would be a precarious position to rely on keeping clean sheets to win games, though.

"I'm sure it's only a matter of time until we start hitting the back of the net more often."

Edinburgh last night watched Crawley Town's game against AFC Wimbledon with both clubs due to face Diamonds in the next few weeks.
