Poppies stalwart Dempster gives full backing to boss Harper

John Dempster insists the Kettering Town squad are "100 per cent" behind manager Lee Harper as they look to bounce back from a poor start to the Blue Square Bet Premier season.

The Poppies head to new boys Fleetwood Town on Saturday in the unusual surroundings of the bottom four after picking up just one win from their first seven matches.

Their latest setback came in a 2-1 home defeat to AFC Wimbledon last weekend and frustration is already beginning to build around the Elgood's Arena.

But fans' favourite Dempster believes Kettering can turn things around and he is in no doubt that Harper is the right man to lead the charge.

Asked if the squad were behind their boss, Dempster said: "Absolutely.

We are 100 per cent behind the gaffer.

"It actually makes it worse when you can't get results for someone you have a ton of respect for as a manager and as a man.

"Everyone in the squad knows he has the qualities to do the job and we are sure that, with hard work, we can things round.

"I can understand it if the fans are frustrated. But all we are

concentrating on is working hard on the training field and making sure we give it our very best to put things right.

"It's going to be hard at Fleetwood again on Saturday because they have some dangerous players and they have good financial backing.

"But we are unbeaten away from home and I don't think our performances have been that bad.

"But we are all fully aware that it's a results business and we definitely need to get a couple of wins on the board."
