Old mate wins the Deacon memorial

Club stalwart Phil Deacon was remembered when Oundle AC ran an open match at the old riverside bridge.

Winning the fabulous trophy was Deacon's old friend Peter Laughton who had 11lb of skimmers and roach – a good catch for such a small water.

Result: Peter Laughton 11lb 6oz, Alan Smith 9-8 (skimmers), Joe Brudenell 7-11, Bryan Tyrrell 7-5, Fred Barry 4-8, Ron Cunnington 4-7, Troy Cunnington 4-6. The golden peg prizes which have ended at 500 and 270 are unclaimed and will now be an attraction to members when the new season begins with the Opening Match Shield on June 16.
