O'Brien out after finger surgery
Northamptonshire wicketkeeper Niall O'Brien has been ruled out for at least a month after an operation on his finger.
The 28-year-old has been missing from the County side recently because of international duty with Ireland.
And he will now be unavailable for a bit longer after surgery.
Steelbacks head coach David Capel said: "Niall underwent the surgery last Wednesday to fix this injury.
"He will be returning to Ireland for the initial rehab period and is out for up to six weeks."
O'Brien added: "Although it's very disappointing to miss out, we came to the decision for the longevity of my career and the wellbeing of my finger.
"It was not an easy decision to make as watching cricket from the sidelines is a frustrating thing to do for me as an active and energetic person.
"Having said that, the squad have been playing some excellent cricket recently and it's great to see David Murphy come in and play so well in my absence."
