Myler can't wait as Saints line up for final
The Churchill Cup final this weekend could feature five Northampton Saints players.
Fly-half Stephen Myler is part of the England Saxons squad that also includes new signings Phil Dowson – who captained the side in the semi-final win over USA – and Shane Geragthy.
Their opponents Ireland A have Neil Best and James Downey in their ranks.
Myler, for one, cannot wait for the final to come around having been named as man of the match in their last-four success.
He is currently keeping Danny Cipriani out of the number 10 jersey. But knows his success in the semi-final was due to work elsewhere on the field.
Myler said: "Kicking the points is part of my job description and I'm really looking forward to the final.
"My job is dependent on the pack of forwards and we ran in a few tries which was pleasing – especially after last week.
"In training we identified a few things that we need to resolve and I think that showed in our performance."
Dowson, who will come face to face with new Saints team-mate Best in a ferocious back-row battle on Sunday, agreed with Myler that the semi-final performance put right a few ills.
He added: "The performance was built on hard work in pretty tough conditions, against a tough side.
"We worked hard during the week to get used to the altitude and bond together as a team which is part of the process. I think the work rate that we kept today got us the result.
"This tour is only three weeks so we have a short space of time. We need to make sure the time we spend together we work hard and we will be doing that all next week in the lead up to the final."
