Ladak: I love this club

Imraan Ladak insists he will remain "fully committed" to Kettering Town.

The chairman came under fire from Poppies fans following the sacking of assistant-manager John Deehan in the immediate aftermath of Tuesday's FA Cup exit.

Defeat in the second-round replay at Leeds United cost them the chance of a trip to Manchester United.

Poppies chairman Ladak responded to supporters' comments yesterday and asked for their backing.

He said: "I have given up a lot of time and effort for the football club and I feel a bit surprised knowing how fickle we can all be after the removal of someone who has been at the club for three weeks and not achieved much.

"I have demonstrated my commitment to the club and have always been there for the fans.

"There is an incredible lack of loyalty from some fans.

"I've got the message, it's loud and clear – 'Ladak, no matter what you do you're only one decision from being the enemy'.

"That's the life of a chairman.

"I understand the emotions of a football fan and what it's like to be a Kettering Town fan.

"Maybe that's the reason but I think it's a bit silly I've been turned on for what I know have been sound decisions for the benefit of the football club.

"I'm not making decisions which benefit me. I'm the best man at the moment to be the chairman.

"I don't want to sell it, I don't want to go. If someone appears and can do a better job than me then by all means I would have to become a supporter and move onto the board.

"I love the football club.

"I'm fully committed but understand that's just football and hopefully some people will cut me some slack."

Ladak admits 'own-goal' over 'bad timing' of Deehan's sacking - see today's Evening Telegraph.
