Geohaghon plays his final game but he and Tomlin can't stop loss
Kettering Town defender Exodus Geohaghon's final international appearance brought mixed emotions last night.
An age limit means the giant centre-half will be ineligible for the England C team next season and he bowed out with a 1-0 defeat to Belgium at Oxford United's Kassam Stadium.
But Geohaghon enjoyed the experience of playing in Italy last term as well as the different style seen during last night's game.
He said: "Obviously it's always an experience being away with the England squad.
"The gaffer wants us to play as much as possible and we had half-
chances.
"Unfortunately this is my last time with the team which is upsetting. But hopefully the younger boys can build on this."
Rushden & Diamonds striker Lee Tomlin – who also completed 90 minutes – added: "It was a good experience and I'm very grateful to be here.
"We didn't get that bit of luck which we needed but as soon as I moved to the right wing I managed to get more crosses in.
"Hopefully I can be involved again next season. But now I'm looking forward to a break before getting back with Diamonds."
England C manager Paul Fairclough said: "There were two contrasting styles of play with one very technical team and a typical English way full of spirit.
"They passed the ball without really penetrating or hurting us. They probably scored during our best spell.
"It was a superb goal, no question. But we a lot of showed spirit."
