Poppies to have early inspection

A pitch inspection will take place at 10.30am tomorrow morning ahead of Kettering Town’s scheduled Blue Square Bet Premier home clash with Forest Green Rovers.

Match referee Michael Bull has agreed that the club can allow Football League official Andy Woolmer to inspect the Nene Park pitch to provide an early decision.

Frost covers have been placed on the surface but it is understood that prospects aren’t great following the heavy snow that fell in the County over the weekend.

Should the game be given the go ahead, the Poppies will be looking for at least 20 volunteers to help get the snow off the covers and then remove the covers from the pitch.

Stadium manager Malc Harris said: “We will let people know as soon as the decision is made.

“And then from 11am we will need an army of around 20 people to help us.

“Anyone who can come down and help will need to wrap up warm and bring a shovel with them.”

KEEP ME NUT DOWN

Better make more acceptable provisions for Saturday. This is not good enough. The club needs revenue. Ridiculous excuse to mention the surroundings get some people down there and do something. I am sure this should have been seen to have been a potential problem last Friday at the meeting. Its not bad enough to call the game off. The local schools are open maybe you should get their caretakers down to Nene Park to get it going. How has the club allowed itself not to be prepared in these desperate times.??? Thats the revenue of two home matches gone to the wall in the last few weeks when when I believe it could have gone ahead but for the bad organising... Sorry. I feel someone needs a kick up the backside.

How can Mr. Woolmer judge whether the pitch is playable BEFORE the snow and covers are removed. Does this confirm that referees have X-Ray vision? Answers on a postcard!
