Poppies clash postponed

Kettering Town’s home clash with Forest Green Rovers tonight has been postponed due to the state of the pitch, the surroundings and the adverse weather forecast tonight.

A morning inspection was carried out by Northamptonshire referee Andy Woolmer.

The Poppies are due to be back in action at Nene Park on Saturday against AFC Telford United.

KMND. No you don't get it, do you? Snow was left on the covers until Tuesday,as the snow actually helps insulate the pitch against the frost. An early inspection was necessary, as had that inspection deemed the pitch POTENTIALLY playable, the snow would have to be cleared off the pitch and then the staduim and surrounds. Less than 10 hours to do all that with a handful of volunteers? I doubt it! Also, FG had to be informed and put off, if necessary, before they left Nailsea. They would have to be at NP 1.5 hours before k.o. So, allow, say, 3 hours travelling time, to be safe and an hour or so for lunch or pre match light afternoon tea en-route, and you're 5-6 hours into the 10 you mention. It was a no brainer! Weather may have been fine at 16:12, but that's not at 19:45 is it. As it happens it wasn't as cold as forecast, but the day weather forecasting is as accurate as we'd all like, KTFC will be European Champions!

KEEP ME NUT DOWN are you a complete idiot. Look out of the window man. The revenue will be better with the milder weather as the cold would have undoubably affected the number of spectators who would turn up

They should have installed underground heating when they built the stadium and thought about having a retractable roof put on too. Or maybe they should get all the previous and current Directors and board members in the stands to defrost the pitch.with all that hot air that blows out of their mouths.they would have the pitch playable in no time.

You could have a thousand of us down there clearing terraces, car parks and the A6 all the way to Kettering, only for the game to be called off anyway because the pitch will be frozen solid by 19:45, if the forecast of-4 to-6 degrees C is to be believed. Andy Woolmer is no fool and is more than senior enough to make a sensible call, as he has done. It was called off at 10:30 this morning because of ".....the adverse weather forecast", so at least the Club doesn't end up having to pay F Green and the match officials (in cash on the night) repeated expenses for another wasted journey, no doubt amounting to a total of the best part of a grand. KYND and the rest of you - keep digging in your pockets, there's good chaps and we'll see you down there Sat morning, bending your backs, if it's looking dodgy. E-mail the Trust with your phone numbers so someone can contact you to come with your shovels, hair dryers etc. ktfc_trust@hotmail.com

Think you'll find both postponed games were against forest green so not 2 lost revenues. Forecast is -4 to -6 at 19:00. Unless you have 200 people with hair driers we had no chance!

Better make more acceptable provisions for Saturday. This is not good enough. The club needs revenue. Ridiculous excuse to mention the surroundings get some people down there and do something. I am sure this should have been seen to have been a potential problem last Friday at the meeting. Its not bad enough to call the game off. The local schools are open maybe you should get their caretakers down to Nene Park to get it going. How has the club allowed itself not to be prepared in these desperate times.??? Thats the revenue of two matches gone to the wall in the last few weeks when when I believe it could have gone ahead but for the bad organising... Sorry.
