Finally a win after 18 failed attempts

Northants Moulton 63 Newcastle Eagles 62 (AOT) Northants Moulton 39 Sheffield Sharks 107

At the 19th time of asking the Northants Moulton junior men recorded their first victory of the season, clinching an overtime win over Newcastle Eagles.

The victory came despite the team's usual abject performance in at least one period, this time the third, when they were outscored 14-2 after establishing a 37-32 half-time lead.

During the second half of the game Eagles employed a zone defence and the Moulton offence lacked movement and patience.

The visitors took the fourth quarter 17-14 with Moulton showing a little more threat to tie the scores up at 53 and the game went into overtime.

With seconds remaining Newcastle led 62-60 but when the ball was passed out to Ben Budgen in the deep corner he coolly netted a three-pointer to give his team victory and celebrations fit for a champ-ionship win.

Merson Paul had 23 points while Jordan Nembhard got 10.

Twenty-four hours later it was a very different story with Moulton up against one of the top junior men's teams in the country in the shape of Sheffield Sharks.

Going into the final period of play Sharks led 69-36 but then fatigue set in for the Moulton boys and Sheffield proceeded to score as many points in the quarter as Moulton amassed all game.
