Diamonds stars to hold further talks
Lee Tomlin and Curtis Osano will hold fresh talks later this week over new contracts at Rushden & Diamonds.
But manager Justin Edinburgh has dismissed further speculation about
big-money bids for Tomlin.
Diamonds have already rejected 150,000 from Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Crawley Town who are refusing to give up hope of signing the highly-rated forward.
Edinburgh denied that npower League Two club Lincoln City have offered 175,000 for Tomlin after 15 goals earned him a place in the Conference team of the 2009-10 season.
He said: "I spoke to Tomlin's agent while we were away in Devon and
hopefully we can arrange another meeting before the end of this week.
"The same applies with Osano's representative as we're trying to move things along.
"There's no real rush because he has another 12 months on his contract and Tomlin has still got another two years.
"There has been no contact since we turned down the only bid for Tomlin.
"We can't help rumours, people speculating and other clubs talking about what they are going to do or how much money they will spend.
"I hope people respect our club and do things the right way. If they want to do business they know our numbers and we can say yes or no."
Meanwhile, Edinburgh is expecting to give 90-minute run-outs for more players in tonight's Nene Park friendly against Southend United – the club where he began his playing days.
He admitted: "I will always have a close interest in the club.
"I was certainly very disappointed in the way they treated Steve Tilson after what he had done there. Putting him on gardening leave was totally unacceptable.
"Southend gave me a fantastic opportunity to get my career up and running.
"A few years ago they were in the Championship and playing cup games against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
"To see how things have deteriorated so quickly is an example of how clubs can struggle financially."
The Diamonds squad will return to Nene Park tomorrow after being based at Kimbolton Preparatory School for the start of pre-season training.
Edinburgh added: "We are moving back home to fully focus on the forthcoming season.
"The days are running out and we need to prepare for the first few games.
"Spending last week in Devon was excellent for a club with financial
restrictions to be able to take the boys away for a change of environment.
"It served a great purpose as a team bonding exercise."
