Cambridge test will be much harder for Harper's Poppies

Lee Harper has warned Kettering Town are facing a totally different proposition when they take on Cambridge United tonight.

The Poppies ended their home hoodoo with a comfortable 2-0 win over a poor Grays Athletic at the weekend to maintain their push for a top-five finish in the Blue Square Premier.

But Harper insists his team will have to produce another good display against Martin Ling's side this evening in what is the first part of a Varsity double as they head to high-flying Oxford United on Saturday.

"It was nice to get the home win after so long and it was thoroughly deserved," the Poppies boss said.

"It's fair to say the opposition wasn't as difficult as we have played recently but you can only play what is put in front of you.

"Cambridge are a huge club and I know Martin has had a lot of

difficulties there with money.

"I watched them against Oxford last Tuesday and they should have beaten them.

"They are a decent side and there are some dangerous players in their squad.

"It will be much more of a challenge than what Grays were.

"But we are in the stage of the season where wins are what matter.

"We have said in team meetings just recently that there is only so much information we can give the lads about our opponents.

"It's all about how you go about your business and how you affect them with your style of play.

"That's what we will do against Cambridge and if we can get another three points then it will set us up well for another huge game at the weekend."

Harper was unhappy with his team's display in the second half against Grays as they took their foot off the gas after scoring both goals in the first 39 minutes.

He added: "The magic word is tempo.

"We didn't come out with the same attitude in the second half against Grays so we must be better from that point of view.

"Cambridge are a side who will play football and sometimes that can be their undoing.

"If we allow them to play, sit off them and don't press them then we will be in big trouble."
