Northampton Town boss Stuart Gray this morning completed a loan swoop for highly-rated Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Mark Little. Little penned a temporary deal at Sixfields in time to be included in the squad to face Millwall tomorrow.

Hill is full of praise for side's strength


Garry Hill hailed the character being displayed by Rushden & Diamonds to kick-start their season in style. They recorded a second successive victory by beating Ebbsfleet United 2-0 at Nene Park last night thanks to goals from substitute Sam Smith and summer signing Lee Phillips who marked his home league debut.

Garry Hill is calling for Rushden & Diamonds fans to play a big part this season by getting behind his new-look side. They take on FA Carlsberg Trophy holders Ebbsfleet United at Nene Park tonight in the first home game of the Blue Square Premier campaign.

Exodus: We have to show we belong here


Exodus Geohaghon insists Kettering Town are ready to show they deserve to be mixing it with the big boys of non-League football. The giant defender made his initial one-month loan spell from Redditch United permanent yesterday and is now ready for a new challenge of helping the Poppies establish themselves in the Blue Square Premier.

Injury blow for Poppies


David Galbraith will miss the first two months of the season with a punctured lung and a broken rib. The Kettering Town winger was hurt in the final friendly at Rothwell Town.

The Poppies also completed a permanent move for Redditch United defender Exodus Geohaghon.

Hill sets sights on striker

Rushden & Diamonds boss Garry Hill revealed that he wants to sign another striker following Daryl Clare's injury and the sale of Jon Challinor.

Rushden & Diamonds sold Jon Challinor to Blue Square Premier rivals Cambridge United for £15,000. The 27-year-old completed his move by passing a medical this morning after the two clubs had agreed a fee on Monday.

Cooper won't rush into move


Kettering Town boss Mark Cooper insisted he won't sign another striker just for the sake of it as he continues the search for a target man.

Meanwhile midfielder Andre Boucaud re-signed for the Poppies as they retained the Newlands Shield by beating Rothwell Town 1-0 at Cecil Street.

Rushden & Diamonds threw away an early two-goal lead in physiotherapist Simon Parsell's testimonial against a Tottenham Hotspur XI at Nene Park. The final pre-season friendly ended in a 4-2 defeat.

Steelmen stage spirited fightback

Steve Diggin smashed a spectacular equaliser as Corby Town came from 2-0 down to draw with a Rangers XI. Leon Mettam had pulled one back for the Steelmen.

Guttridge seals Sixfields switch

Midfielder Luke Guttridge signed a two-year deal at Northampton Town following a successful trial and immediately set his sights on a play-off place in Coca-Cola League One.

Debut strike for loanee


On-loan winger Owain Warlow scored on his debut for Kettering Town in a 2-1 home victory over a Birmingham City XI. Gareth Seddon struck the winner.

Corby claim draw with Posh


Corby Town came from behind twice to earn a 2-2 draw against Peterborough United. Steve Diggin (penalty) and Jon Stevenson were on target.

Bunn hint on new deal


Mark Bunn has played a straight bat to questions about his future at Northampton Town – but dropped a hint he is prepared to sign a fresh deal at the club. The goalkeeper is out of contract next summer, by which time he will have turned 24 and be eligible to leave Sixfields for nothing under the Bosman ruling.

Potter links up with Poppies

Alfie Potter finally completed his loan move from Peterborough United to Kettering Town by training for the first time with the Poppies squad.
