MARK COOPER feels Kettering Town's ability to squeeze the life out of their title rivals is what has put them on the brink of promotion with a month of the season to go.
The Poppies could claim the Blue Square Conference North crown as early as tomorrow if they win at Blyth Spartans, AFC Telford United lose to Barrow and Stalybridge Celtic and Harrogate Town fail to win their respective matches.

Two wins from the final seven matches is the more simple equation for Cooper's men to claim promotion.

And the manager admits the run of form in March, which has brought five wins with just two goals conceded, has made it hard for their rivals to deal with.

The Poppies boss said: "I wouldn't say the run of form we have had has surprised me because we have the players who are capable of doing something like that.

"But you are always wondering if there is going to be a slip.

"I read a few quotes after Christmas where people were saying that March would be the make or break month and if we could come through it unscathed then we would go close.

"To be honest we haven't done badly by winning five out of five and we are going to go close.

"What these five games have done is put incredible pressure on the rest and every time we have won it has made it harder for them.

"As a player that does get to you and it puts you on edge and I think that is what happened.

"We have been tough to catch. Even when it was down to one point we didn't panic because we had three games in hand.

"I think the big result was going to Hyde and winning 3-0 because that sent out a message to people that these boys are not really going to blow up.

"We will try and win and then it's up to other people.

"But I can't see Telford and Stalybridge dropping points so it's just important for us to get the right result and make sure we set it up for a big home game against Telford."
