Manchester City manager Mark Hughes believes his club have delivered a real statement of intent by re-signing Shaun Wright-Phillips.
City yesterday put aside uncertainty over their financial position to bring the winger back to Eastlands three years after his £21m sale to Chelsea.

Hughes now hopes to make further additions to his squad before Monday's transfer deadline.

"I think it sends a message and a statement of what we are about," said Hughes.
