Dickov netted his first goal since re-signing in the summer in their narrow 3-2 Carling Cup defeat at Premier League Fulham in midweek when Nigel Pearson's men came within seven minutes of causing an upset.
But, despite the disappointment of their
unlucky exit, Dickov insisted there were an "abundance of positives" to take from the game as they get back to the business of maintaining a promotion challenge.
"Losing to Fulham was a massive disappointment because our performance deserved better," said the former Scottish international.
"But we can still take a lot of positives out of that game into our clash with Cheltenham which we are all looking forward to.
"Our level of performance against Fulham is the standard we have now set ourselves and we need to give ourselves a kick up the backside if these drop in the future."
Leicester will now turn their attention back to continuing their unbeaten league start against a Cheltenham team who also pushed a Premier League side all the way in the Carling Cup in midweek before losing 3-2 to Stoke City.
Dickov's goal in midweek could keep him in the starting line-up. But Pearson might be reluctant to break up front pair Matty Fryatt and Steve Howard who have shared six goals in four games.
On-loan defender Jack Hobbs and winger Max Gradel could both return
after being rested against Fulham – although James Wesolowski may keep his place.
Leicester, meanwhile, have announced that their League One trip to Colchester United has been re-arranged for Tuesday, September 30 (kick-off 7.45pm).
Leicester from: Martin, Gilbert, Morrison, Tunchev, Hobbs, Powell, Kishishev, Adams, C King, A King, Wesolowski, Dickov, Campbell, Dyer, Fryatt, Howard, Henderson.
