The Poppies are currently in possession of the final play-off place.

But the likes of York City and AFC Wimbledon are breathing down their necks while Crawley Town and Mansfield Town will also still harbour hopes of a last-ditch run to make it into the top five.

Kettering have nine games left, the first of which is at Altrincham tonight.

But striker Appiah – who has been a regular since joining the club on loan from Peterborough United – doesn't seem to be feeling the pressure.

"I haven't really looked at the league table to be honest," he said.

"I am aware of where we are but I think all the boys are just taking it game-by-game and trying to pick up three points from every game.

"We know we need wins to keep us in there and that's all we are focused on.

"We are very relaxed and just concentrating on the next game in front of us.

"It's all about getting three points tonight and we will do our best to get that."

Another away game gives another member of the Poppies squad the opportunity to try to explain why they are so good on the road.

Their haul of 39 points away from home is better than anyone else in the top five divisions with the next best, ironically, being in the same division with Luton Town having claimed 35 away from Kenilworth Road.

No-one from within the Kettering camp has been able to explain it. And Appiah is no different.

"I haven't got a clue," was his honest anwer.

"We approach all the games the same so I am not sure why it is so different.

"It's nice to have a good away record and we are hoping to keep that going but we know it will be tough tonight.

"I think we have a strong attack and some good players in that area so hopefully we can break them down and get a good result.

"I thought it was a good point for us at Oxford.

"They are a decent side and they aren't up there for no reason.

"It's a matter of trying to build on that at Altrincham and that's what we will try to do."

Appiah has enjoyed a good run in the starting line-up since joining from Posh.

And he is hoping to remain a regular member of the side during the run-in.

"Coming here has been great for me," the 19-year-old added.

"I wasn't really getting a chance at Peterborough so it's nice to have come here and be involved in something.

"I have been playing in most of the games and that's been great. I just want to keep working hard and play a part in the important matches that
are left.
