Friswell was plucked from the obscurity of National League One side Coventry whose financial problems almost saw the club go under.
Moving from part-time rugby to the professional world of the Premiership is a chance of redemption for Friswell aft
er he was released by Leicester Tigers as a youngster.
But forwards coach Dorian West saw something when he was at Leicester and was reminded of Friswell's talent when Saints took on Coventry last season.
Friswell said: "It is a dream move for me.
"You have fantastic facilities here, a good set of lads, top coaches and it is not too far to travel from Coventry.
"I was at Leicester before as a youngster, but I didn't get the chance. Hopefully, I will get the chance this time and prove my worth."
Friswell, who is one of five hookers on Saints' books, is desperate to take his second chance in the top flight, starting with tonight's pre-season friendly at Cardiff.
West spoke to Friswell after Saints' win at Coventry, but the 25-year-old heard nothing until May and he admitted it was a surprise when the call came.
"Dorian said he had watched a few DVDs and he was keen to get me down and the rest is history," said Friswell.
"It is a hell of a lot more professional here, it is streets ahead of what we did at Coventry.
"It was good at Coventry, but with the facilities, coaching, set-up and conditioning here it has been great.
"It has been hard, I have been here since June, but it is what we needed – well, I definitely needed it."
