And the Corby gymnast believes he has done "the best he can" to
take one of the two men's places
available in the Great Britain team for the Games which begin in August.
The 18-year-old became the Junior European champion at last weekend's
championships in Switzerland as he also captained the Great Britain team to a historic victory.
Keatings – who trains at Huntingdon Olympic Gymnastics Club – claimed gold medals in the pommel horse and parallel bars, a bronze in the floor exercise and then added two more golds with the all-round title as well as his team medal.
It was the culmination of two months of hard work and Keatings admitted it was the perfect time to produce the performance of his career.
He said: "It's one of the biggest results so far for me.
"The whole experience of captaining the British team was amazing but for the team to go and win made it so special.
"As far as the Olympics are concerned I have done the best that I can. It will be the beginning of June when we find out what is happening."
Keatings' performance in Lausanne gave him the best medal haul by a British gymnast in any major event.
And he conceded the training he and his team-mates put in ahead of the competition had paid off.
"We have two months at Lilleshall where we worked non-stop," he said.
"Everyone put the hours in and it's great when all that hard work pays off.
"I have a seniors Grand Prix in Moscow at the end of this month and then hopefully there will be some good news about the Olympics."
Keatings' coach Paul Hall said: "Daniel has shown he is not simply a specialist, he is a great all-arounder.
"And my hope for Huntingdon Olympic Gym Club is for Daniel and Louis Smith to represent Great Britain in Beijing."
