Chris Beardsley has welcomed the signing of Gareth Seddon as the new striker gets ready to make his Kettering Town debut.
Seddon, who joined from Hyde United for an undisclosed fee earlier this week, linked up with his new team-mates for the first time today.

And he is now set to make his bow in tomorrow's home friendly against UniBond League Premier Division newcomers FC United of Manchester.

And Beardsley, who opened the scoring in the Poppies' disappointing 4-2 defeat at Cambridge City on Tuesday night, has embraced the addition of a prolific striker to the attacking ranks at the A-Line Arena.

Beardsley said: "It's a good signing for the club. He has done brilliantly in the last two years.

"He has recovered from a bad injury and hopefully he can bring the form he had with Hyde to us.

"I think we needed another centre-forward. Last season we were down to the bare bones at times and some players were having to play when they weren't totally fit.

"We have signed Gareth and even with that, at the moment, we only have three fully-fit frontmen.

"Having said that, I don't think we will ever have a problem with scoring goals simply because of the way we play."

Tomorrow's clash with the club that was formed in the wake of Malcolm Glazer's takeover of Manchester United gives Kettering the chance to bounce back from the setback at Cambridge.

And Beardsley is ready for a tough test against a club he feels is going places.

"I don't know how many promotions FC United have had on the bounce.

"But they are on the up and well supported so it should be a decent occasion," he added.

"The pitch is looking fantastic and hopefully a few of our fans will turn up to have a look.

"Then we can try to put in a decent performance for them and continue to build up our fitness."
