A popular cafe was forced to close its doors after burglars wrecked it.
Staff at Eat 'n' Enjoy, in Eaton Walk, Rushden, were horrified when they arrived at work yesterday and found the property had not only been burgled but the thieves had smashed doors, damaged ceilings, broken its safe and ruined food by leaving the fr
idge open.

Owner Carolyn Knight said: "They destroyed everything in sight.
"They totally obliterated the back door, smashed our side door and digital locks, damaged our ceiling in the hallway and back entrance to the shop and left our fridge open so we had to destroy the food.

"They also smashed open our safe and took the money.

"The damage was so bad there was no way we could open and we spent the day tidying up and getting our doors replaced after the police had carried out their forensic investigations.

"I'm hoping the police are going to catch whoever did this and I would urge anyone who has any information to come forward.

"The longer these people get away with these things the more they are going to do them. I'm going to reopen as soon as possible because I'm not going to let these people beat me."

Mrs Knight hopes to reopen today.

At this stage she does not know how much the burglary has cost her.
A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "Our investigations are ongoing."

Anyone with any information about the burglary should call police on 08453 700700 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111

Scumspawn strike again, the police farce "investiagtions ongoing" generally means we actually came to have a look forget anything else. But one must say, well done for the man who was attacked outside ASDA in arresting those involved.
