The rising cost of petrol is forcing all of us to reassess what journeys we are making in our cars. How are you being affected? Do you think there should be a petrol protest?

The person/people who tied a poor dog to a railway track nr Corby village, resulting in the death of the animal shows that the mentality of some people has sunk to an all time low.

Having reached the age to have a bus pass I decided to save on fuel and take the bus from Raunds to Northampton, the drivers were pleasant enough, not the most comfortable journey and 1hr 40 minutes duration. The main problem with public transport is the passengers, I was subjected to a background buzz of an Ipod, rubbish left in a pile an empty lager can rolling from side to side and if that was not enough on the way home 3 women one had had her car taken by the police due to lack of insurance which she was not happy about and spent the entire journey complaining that she needed the toilet, had been picked on by the police (who had nothing else to do),the bus journey, her language got worse as the journey progressed she was in no way to blame for her problems and the rest of us passengers had to listen to her from Northampton to Rushden never again I'll get the car out in future

With regard to your sad and sickening story of the cruelty shown to an innocent German Shepherd; when are people in power going to accept that animal cruelty by children is a good indicator of how they will behave when they are adults. The police routinely ignore various forms of animal cruelty, such as shooting animals with air guns, until it happens to a child. Then they pull out all the stops to find the culprits. These children if allowed to continue their cruelty will be grow up to be the most violent members of our society. They should be found and their problems addressed at an early age so they can hopefully grow to be happy productive members of society.

What we need to do is have an international fuel boycott for just one day. Its not just an English problem, this is much bigger that it appears to be!

I felt compelled to write regarding the horrific death of the German Shepherd dog reported in your newspaper. I am appalled that such cruelty could exist in this world and be perpetrated on an innocent animal. The boys responsible are vicious little thugs who do not deserve the anonimity that the law unfortunately grants them due to their age. I can only hope that on this occasion such a terrible crime will not be excused by the do gooders of this world and that the full force of the law will be used against them. Surely there must be some justice in this world for that poor animal. At the very least I urge your newspaper to find a way to name and shame these boys and their families, in the hope that they suffer at the very least a fraction of the terror that poor dog must have felt.
