Dragon dancing and eating noodles were the order of the day as youngsters across Northampton celebrated Chinese New Year.
Children at Sunny Socks Nursery, in Duston, tried using chopsticks to eat a Chinese feast, traced oriental writing and danced like a dragon to mark the year of the rat.

Daniella Wager, deputy manager, said: "They had a fantastic time, we will definitely be looking into celebrating more things."

Pupils and staff at Northampton High School also got into the spirit, with Chinese food in a dining room decorated with oriental flags, Tibetan prayer flags, pendants and lanterns.

And in the school's nursery children came dressed in red for good luck, watched a video on Chinese New Year and danced as a dragon.

They ate noodles, lycees and crispy seaweed and also had lanterns and red and gold decorations for the windows.
