Three quarters of us believe in aliens

More than three quarters of Brits believe we are not alone in the universe, a new poll revealed today.

Seventy-eight per cent of people think aliens exist with another 55 per cent believing they make regular trips to our planet.

Almost 17 per cent claim to have seen unexplainable lights in the sky or a UFO.

The study comes after a damaged wind turbine in Lincolnshire was blamed on a UFO collision after nearby residents also reported seeing strange lights in the sky.

NASA scientists also claim to have new evidence of life on Mars after discovering methane gas coming from organisms living just below the surface of the Red Planet.

A spokesman for www.onepoll.com said: ''In the past week or so, there have been several reported sightings of UFOs.

''Maybe this has been enough to convince many undecided Brits that we aren't the only ones in the universe.''

The poll, of 3,000 people, revealed that more than a third of people (35%) believe that aliens were to blame to the broken blade on the wind turbine.

And more than half of those surveyed think there really is life on Mars.

Fourteen per cent are so convinced there is life out there, they would be happy for the Government to spend tax payer's money investigating whether or not they exist.

But 30 per cent of Brits admitted the thought of aliens visiting our planet scares them.

Researchers also revealed that Brits imagine aliens to have a large head with at least three eyes and green, glowing skin.

They also believe the extra-terrestrials to have a tall, thin body with long limbs.
