Pupils make a film for war museum

Students at Corby Business Academy have been commissioned by the Imperial War Museum to make a film.
The school is one of only two picked to take part in the museum’s Build the Truce project. The aim is to take the idea of a truce as a first step towards ending conflict.
The pupils were chosen to take part after their philosophical debates on warfare were spotted on the social media site Radiowaves.
Teacher Claire Howsam, who runs the Radiowaves project, said: “This is a huge honour for the academy and the students involved.
“We were approached after our debates were spotted by the museum’s staff – which just shows how successful our Radiowaves site has become.
“This will be an incredible project to work on and will give students new skills and a real insight into how a museum works and how exhibits are put together.”
Between now and September students from the school’s gifted and talented group will devise a concept for the film and record and edit it to a professional standard.
The finished film will be shown at the Imperial War Museums in London and Manchester alongside a film on the same subject being made by museum staff.
Next week the students will open the project up to other pupils by posting a debate question on the Radiowaves main website.
They will also visit the Imperial War Museum, London, to meet staff for advice. Students involved in the project are Matthew Hannah, Steven Moore, Kyla Bite, Alex Lawless, Eryn Lee Church, Kyle English, Amy Moore, Jacob Cleary, Matthew Ford, Emily Russell and Shona Duncan.
