Suspected incident outside Wellingborough campus closes college

Police investigations into a suspected incident outside the Tithe Barn in Wellingborough have closed a college campus and busy town centre cut through.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "Following reports of a man being found injured in Tithe Barn Road in Wellingborough yesterday evening (December 2), officers have continued to be at the scene today (December 3) to establish the circumstances of the incident.

"Following their enquiries, officers are satisfied that no crime has taken place and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident."

It is believed that a man thought to be in his 50s was taken to hospital.

An eyewitness said: "There were two police cars outside the Tithe Barn as I walked past this morning.

"The path outside the Tithe Barn leading to Morrisons was taped off."

Students at Tresham College's Wellingborough Croyland Hall campus have been told to stay away after access to the path to their building was closed by police.

The building in Tithe Barn Road, which overlooks Croyland Park in the centre of the town, is being used temporarily by the college.

A message on their website advised students: "Our Croyland Hall campus in Wellingborough will be closed all day."
