Wellingborough man gets suspended sentence after admitting shaking his baby

A man who shook his baby daughter so hard she was left severely disabled has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Stephen Craine, 46, of Chatsworth Drive, Wellingborough, admitted

grievous bodily harm against daughter Isabelle in May last year but told the court he shook her because she was having a seizure.

The child spent time in John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford after the incident.

Today Northampton Crown Court heard Isabelle's prognosis is not clear but extremely poor. The court heard she will never see, speak or walk.
