Wellingborough carnival lands £18,000 grant
A carnival and an archery club have had their funds boosted by grants worth almost £18,000.
Wellingborough Carnival Association received 9,650, from the National Lottery's Awards for All programme, the small grants scheme administered by the Big Lottery Fund on behalf of good cause funders, Arts Council England, Big Lottery Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund and Sport England.
Sue Bull, chairman of the Wellingborough Carnival Association, said: "We are delighted. It will make an awful lot of difference to a small organisation like us and we will be making sure the money is well spent on the 100th carnival and it's surrounding events.
"We are planning some workshops which will take place at the carnival and some other events."
A grant of 7,999 has also been awarded to Archers, of Raunds, an archery club which runs courses for beginners as well as taking part in tournaments across the country.
A total of 366,040 has also been distributed to 52 grassroots community groups and voluntary organisations across the East Midlands in the latest round of awards.
