Water crisis: Schools advised to close

Schools in areas affected by the county's water contamination, are being advised to close if they do not have enough bottled water.

Northamptonshire County Council has contacted schools advising them to close if they do not have a big enough reserve of safe water to drink.

Anglian Water released an urgent warning to the public early this morning advising them not to drink tap water or any water from the mains without boiling it first, until further notice.

The water is thought to be contaminated with a diarrhoea inducing bug.
