Two teenagers arrested following spate of robberies in Wellingborough
Police are appealing for witnesses to three robberies that took place in Wellingborough late on Thursday 9 July.
The first took place sometime between 10.15pm and 10.20pm when a 23-year-old man was approached by three offenders in Midland Road who asked for a cigarette.
The victim walked past the offenders who followed him and made threatening comments but disappeared once a police car drove past.
The second incident took place in Brook Street East, some time between 10.45pm and 11.35pm and saw a 52-year-old man approached by a group of young men who asked for cigarettes. He refused and was assaulted, the offenders made off with nothing.
The third incident happened between 10.55pm and 11.10pm when a 66-year-old man was approached by a group of young men who demanded his bag. The victim refused and was subsequently assaulted and had his bag stolen.
Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any of these incidents.
Two teenage boys, one aged 17, the other 18, have been arrested in connection with these incidents. Both have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
