A THIEF said he “just went crazy” after admitting stealing more than £300 worth of chewing gum

Marius Tanase, 20, of Severn Drive, Northampton, admitted stealing goods worth £487.34 from Asda in Corby on January 12, which included £333.15 worth of chewing gum.

In his statement to police, Tanase said “I don’t know what went wrong, I just went crazy.”

Corby Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday that Tanase had been dealt with for another shoplifting offence in Luton, for which he was sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid work. Corby magistrates gave him a 12-month conditional discharge.
