Loving messages to family and friends have started to fill the window of a charity shop.

The British Heart Foundation shop in Rushden High Street is taking part in the charity’s Love Notes campaign to raise funds.

People can write love notes on hearts to people they care about, or their pets, which are displayed in the shop window in exchange for a suggested donation of £1 or more.

Shop manager Carol Kendrick said: “This is the smallest British Heart Foundation shop in the country so it can be a struggle here. That is why fundraising campaigns like this one are so important to us and this is the first one of the year.

“The notes don’t have to be for a partner, they can be for parents, friends or even pets.

“One of our volunteers wrote a lovely message to her brother-in-law, wishing him a speed recovery after he was taken into hospital.”

The Love Notes will remain in the shop window until Valentine’s Day. The charity also offers corporate love notes to businesses.
