Speeding motorists top police action list
Police will be cracking down on speeding in Rushden and Higham Ferrers after residents raised concerns about the issue.
The East Northants South Safer Community Team has made speeding one of its top three priorities after residents highlighted it as one of the main problems in the area.

Team leader Sgt Kev Byrne said: "Speeding is an issue that has been brought to our attention by people living in Rushden and Higham Ferrers and is something we are tackling with our partners.
"The problem we face is that a lot of the solutions to the speeding issues need to be long-term ones and that is where our partners within the joint action group come into play.
"As long as people living in Rushden and Higham Ferrers tell us that it is a concern for them we will tackle it as one of our priorities. We will be out and about in locations that have been identified as a concern."
Residents are pleased the issue has been made a priority as many feel it has been a problem for years.
Stuart Denton, of Rushden, said: "It is very good news. It is about time something was done about it.
"You see things happening in other towns with speed cameras and signs going up, but nothing ever gets done in Rushden.
"It will certainly benefit residential areas as you never know what is going to happen with children and animals running out on to the road."
The main areas he feels should be tackled are residential roads such as Hall Avenue and the town centre one-way system including Duck Street and Rectory Road.
Pensioner Wilfred Bassingthwaite, of Whitefriars Close, said: "I am very glad they have made it a priority as the speeding is terrible in Rushden.
"They come round 30mph roads at 60mph and you can hardly get across the road so I am very grateful something is being done."
The other two priorities for the East Northants South team are drug misuse in Rushden and inappropriate gathering of youths across the area covered by the team.
