School's joy at brilliant report

Staff and pupils will be holding a party at the end of term after receiving an outstanding Ofsted report for the second time.

South End Infants School in Rushden was visited by Ofsted inspectors on June 3 and has just received the report which gave it high praise.

The report said: "This is an outstanding school."

Headteacher Andrew Jackson is very proud of the results.

He said: "We are absolutely delighted. We were graded outstanding at our last inspection three years ago and now again this year. Everyone is very excited and we will be celebrating with a party at the end of the year.

"Our success is down to the whole school community – our hardworking teachers, dedicated governors, supportive parents and the children who come to school excited to learn."

Inspectors said they felt pupils make excellent progress through the school and their achievement is outstanding.

They attributed this to the high quality of teaching, leadership and management.

The report said: "Lessons are typified by high levels of challenge, excellent relationships and a lively sense of purpose.

"The engaging and broad curriculum is designed very well to interest the pupils and the care provided for pupils is excellent."

According to the report, one of the key reasons for the school's success is because very careful evaluation has been carried out to identify areas for development and plans have been successfully implemented to address these.

The inspectors said the only area which could be improved is the effectiveness of the Early Years Foundation Stage which was rated "good".

Mr Jackson added: "There are one or two areas we need to improve in the Early Years Foundation Stage, but it has still been rated good and we will continue to improve. Hopefully, in three years' time we will receive an outstanding report again."
