Review launched over plans for 60,000 homes in Northamptonshire
A comprehensive review of plans to build 60,000 homes in Northamptonshire has been ordered by the Government.
The East Midlands Regional Assembly has started a partial review of its existing regional plan which will determine where more than 60,000 homes will be built.
The plan, formally adopted in March, is the regional spatial strategy for the East Midlands which forms part of the development plan for every borough.

The Government has asked EMRA to undertake the review, and their consultation sets out four different options of how the building could go ahead.
Corby Council local plans principal planner Terry Begley has suggested the second option would be the best for the borough.
Writing in a report to members of the town's Local Plan Committee, he said: "It is recommended that continuation of current strategy as presented in option two with the focus on growth on all the growth towns, with a higher proportion in Corby, is supported at this stage.
"The momentum, investment and energy created in Corby requires the continuation of ambitious growth targets in order to provide a framework that attracts investment to Corby so it can compete with neighbouring local centres and grow and function in a complementary manner for the benefit of North Northamptonshire."
Mr Begley discounted the third option, saying it would lead to a loss of identity of the individual towns.
He said the fourth option would lead to "unsustainable commuting patterns" and increase the pressure on infrastructure.
However, he said: "Limited rural growth is needed to sustain rural communities and meet local needs so this option is not disregarded in its entirety."
There are plans to build more than 66,000 homes in north Northamptonshire between 2001 and 2026. The plan is for 52,100 homes to be built between 2001 and 2021 and a further 13,975 between 2021 and 2026.
Vice-chairman of Corby Council' s Local Plans Committee, Cllr Peter McEwan, said: "The consultation document covers the whole East Midlands region, therefore Corby Council is responding as a local authority that is affected."
The consultation period will end on October 6 and is expected to be submitted to the EMRA in March next year.
Corby Council will make its decision tomorrow.
Kettering, Wellingborough and East Northamptonshire councils could not confirm if they were also taking part in the review.
