Resurfaced roads in Rushden 'are in an appalling state'
Residents are calling for action after a motorcyclist came off his bike on a poor road surface.
People living around Melloway Road, Purbeck Road and Dingle Road in Rushden have asked the county council to resurface their roads.
Keri Stagg, of Purbeck Road, said: "There has been a recent episode of resurfacing work in Rushden which has left almost an entire estate in a far worse state than it was to begin with.
"The estate was resurfaced at the end of October and straight after problems began to arise with the road breaking up, specifically around the speed bumps along Melloway Road.
"There was also loose surface tar and gravel left on the road, despite a roadsweeper coming around twice. The road is now in an awful condition."
Miss Stagg decided enough was enough when her neighbour came off his motorbike after skidding on some lose tarmac in the road. She reported the problem to the county council's Street Doctor team.
She said: "The roads are in a hazardous and appalling state of affairs, especially in the current weather conditions.
"Worse still, they did not appear to have any pothole problems before this work was carried out."
The Street Doctor team confirmed it received the complaint and passed it onto an officer on December 2, despite saying they aim to get out to the problem within five days.
Last week the Evening Telegraph revealed there was a 300m backlog of maintenance needed to deal with the county's pothole problem.
