Pull on silly socks and leg it to walk
Silly socks, stupendous shoes and luminous leggings are among the crazy gear which will be worn by participants in this year's Lakelands Late Night Legs walk.
The sponsored walk is back for its fourth year.
Late Night Legs will take place on Friday, July 31, starting at Lakelands Hospice in Butland Road, Corby.
The five-mile route will begin and end at the hospice and will take in the sights of the Oakley Vale estate – in the dark.
Walkers are asked to dress their legs in bright colours and to be as outrageous as they like with their footwear and this year's event has a new route for youngsters, the Little Legs walk. This is a one mile walk designed for children, family pets, or those with mobility problems.
Community fundraiser for Lakelands, Julia Rattigan, said: "People with life-limiting illnesses face great challenges everyday. Little Legs and Late Night Legs provide an opportunity for people in the area to challenge themselves and support the vital service that Lakelands provides in the community.
"The walk is the major highlight of Lakelands' fundraising calendar and last year the event raised more than 6,000, which is fantastic.
"In terms of palliative care, 6,000 would provide 80 days of care to patients living with life limiting illnesses."
The hospice provides care for those suffering from illnesses including cancer. People come to the hospice from across north Northamptonshire.
The five-mile Late Night Legs will start at 8.30pm with a mass warm-up beforehand at 8.15pm. Little Legs starts at 5.30pm.
Jagger and Woody from radio station Heart 96 will be there on the night to start the walk off in style. Registration for both events will open from 4.30pm and all walkers will receive a medal.
Refreshments will be available at both events.
