Poppies chairman in meeting pledge

Kettering town chairman Imraan Ladak is willing to meet Kettering Council privately next week to try to resolve the club's ground problems.

Speaking the day after the Poppies' extra time defeat by Leeds at Elland Road in the FA Cup, Mr Ladak answered questions from fans on the club's future, their efforts to find a long-term home and his commitment to the club.

He also quashed rumours the club is in talks to merge with other teams.

One of the key questions fans wanted answering was when Mr Ladak and representatives from Kettering Council would sit down for talks.

He said: "I'm happy to have this meeting next week and then have a public meeting.

"Over the last week there hasn't been the time for me to do that.

"We haven't had merger talks. We have initially had a couple of conversations about the possibility of playing somewhere else. A merger is not my agenda and not something which is my plan. I don't want to sell it, I don't want to go. I love this football club."

Mr Ladak said if the club had beaten Leeds, a tie against Manchester United would have gone some way to solving the ground issues.

He said: "Money from Manchester United would have been used towards trying to find a deal to stay at Rockingham Road. We have a lease running out which the landlord doesn't want to extend.

"We want to stay at Rockingham Road but I'm concerned that option will be closed as well.

"If that's the situation in January we've got a problem."
