Police to target area's biggest criminals

Some of the most prolific offenders in the north of the county are be targeted by a new team set up to cut crime.

About 150 of the worst criminals will be tracked down by the team, which will include people working in hotspot areas in Kettering, Wellingborough and East Northamptonshire.

Officers will be out to catch those who continue to break the law, but also looking at the reasons why they re-offend. The team which will be based at Kettering Police Station, will look at issues including drug addiction and homelessness.

Police hope it will help continue the reduction in burglary, robbery and vehicle crime in the north of the county and comes as the force looks at new ways to cut offending in the area.
