Police to probe Kettering Town racism row

Police will investigate claims of racist behaviour at a football match between Kettering Town and Lincoln City.

Lincoln City manager Peter Jackson said some of his players and assistant Iffy Onuora were racially abused during the FA Cup first round tie at the A-Line Arena last Saturday.

Yesterday a police spokesman said: "As a result of media coverage of alleged racist behaviour directed at members of Lincoln City FC and in the light of further information received, we have launched an investigation into what happened, in conjunction with the Football Association, and will be working closely with both clubs."

Poppies managing director Kevin Meikle said: "We have completed the investigation into the incident.

"We have passed all the evidence provided from Lincoln City, the FA and supporters to the police. We feel it would be inappropriate to comment further until the outcome of the investigation."

The match, which ended 1-1, will be replayed at Lincoln City on Tuesday.
